TRUST
The reference for this art piece is a movie called “The Square” by the director Ruben Östlund. My inspiration came from how the main character was trying to trust in the goodwill of the strangers who stole his wallet.
PROCESS
The main goal was for four people who did not know each other to hold hands while their eyes were covered. I gathered two friends and walked around the Columbus State University campus to find the other two people. Two nice students agreed to help us with the production of TRUST.
I showed them some sketches and explained that the idea was for them to cover their eyes and hold their hands across. The eyes cover symbolizes how people can trust blindly strangers without knowing if there will be negative repercussions. The crossing hands means there is not a straight way to offer help.
